Aga Gas Repair & Service
Plumblocal.net  is London's quality Aga and Rayburn service engineers. We maintain and service all Aga and Rayburn gas cookers. Aga/Rayburn advise all their cooker owners to have a thorough service every year. Our staff have completed all of the Aga and Rayburn courses and have the appropriate Gas Safe Register Range Cooker certification so that we can work on these cookers.

We carry out the full approved Aga/Rayburn service which includes taking off the hot plate, checking that all the flues are clean and changing the Thermocouple. Parts are not included in this price.

If something has gone wrong with the cooker and we need to fix it, then we charge at our hourly rate of £120 + VAT/hour. Our engineer will explain all this when he visits.

Please note that in order to work on an Aga or Rayburn you must turn off your cooker 24 hours in advance in order for it to have cooled down enough to work on. Continue reading for advice on how to do this.

Turning your Aga cooker off - Gas

Gas Aga Mk 1 Burner
Refer to the sketch below to identify the various controls

Gas Aga MK 1 Burner
1968-1988 Mk1
If your Aga is only to be left for a few days, why turn it off? It doesn't hurt to leave it on a lower thermostat position. For longer periods the pilot only may be left on as follows:

Turn the black control tap '4' (located in the centre of the numbered ring) through 90 degrees, until the finger grip is at right angles, i.e across the gas pipe.

To turn it off completely:

Carry out the above and then turn the main control cock '1' through 90 degrees, so that the line on the cock, is across the pipe.
This turns both pilot and main burner off.

Turning the thermostat knob '4' clockwise to the '0' position.

To turn it off completely:

1. Carry out the above and then press and release the button '3' marked with an '0' symbol.

2. Turn the main gas cock '1' through 90 degrees, until the line marked on the cock, is across the gas pipe.

This turns both pilot and main burner off.

Converted Aga Cookers
Converted Aga’s are old solid fuel heat storage units that have been converted to use gas. Most converted Aga’s use a Junkers valve or a more modern 630 eurosit valve. The main different between a normal aga and a converted aga is that the gas valve is on the outside of the aga on the left or the right side. This means that the thermocouple used is not going to be a conventional aga thermocouple. It might be a very long universal thermocouple or it might be a thermocouple with an extension on it. Either way the parts are not standard.

Plumblocal.net try to carry as many parts as possible however parts for the converted Aga’s are very hard to get and can take some time to source. Our team has extensive knowledge of these aga’s and will try to help in every way we can. We do not charge any more to service a recon Aga.
